La Vida, Esperanza, y Amor.
This mural is dedicated to the strength and love of Comuna 13. The women represent the mothers of the comuna and also Mother Earth. They nurture, provide hope, and love. The water is significant to the life and history of the comuna. Music, Dance, and the people make up the colorful lives of Colombian culture. The condor on the left, represents Colombia and the 4 cardinal virtues. The metrocables being held above the life of water signifies the power TO the people and FOR the people. If you are not familiar with the history of Medellin and Comuna 13, it was once one of the most dangerous places in the world due to gang and drug violence. But today, the city and communities are thriving and continuing to rebuild themselves.
